If you enjoy having an endless list of exciting activities on your To-Do-List, then the Newport Beach Peninsula is the place for you! Out of all the areas in Newport Beach, this might just hold the most excitement. Day or night, there’s a little something for all ages. Whether you enjoy walking, running, biking or all of the above, once you settle into the peninsula you will find yourself making excuses on why not to leave! The Peninsula is for those who love leading active lives. On any given day you’ll catch families playing Frisbee down by the water, people fishing off the pier, bikers on beach cruisers, and some deliciously, tasty food options. During the summer months, the peninsula is packed with locals and tourists soaking up the good ole’ California sunshine. Although winter brings a more calm beach vibe, here are a list of the top ten things you can do on the Newport Peninsula year round!
1. Explore Lido
One of the best kept secrets many people tend to miss if simply passing by, is the Lido Village. The Lido Village boasts not only some of the best boutique shopping destinations in Newport, but provides a unique feel unlike any other area on the peninsula. (Did we mention it backs up to Newport Harbor!?) The Lido Village has recently undergone major renovations, and the finished product is definitely worth seeing for yourself. The Lido Village not only has some great shopping destinations, but also houses other amenities. A number of businesses that call the newly upgraded Lido Village home include Curl Fitness featuring yoga and Pilates, Tress Apothecary & Salon, and the newly opened Elyse Walker boutique. In addition, one of the most exciting rumors spreading its way up the coast, is the news of Nobu making it’s way to Orange County! Nobu, one of the most renown Japanese restaurants, is set to open this winter. If the news of a two story, waterfront, indoor-outdoor Nobu doesn’t have you excited, then you must come see for yourself!

2. Watch Surfers at the Wedge
The Newport “Wedge” is recognized worldwide for it’s big waves. With that said, one of the best activities to do while on the peninsula is to watch Newport’s skilled surfers tackle the monstrous waves at the wedge. With the anticipation of a big swell, this location brings a melting pot of tourists and locals. Located at the very end of the peninsula, the wedge can generate waves that can reach up to 30 ft. tall. Thanks to the help of the jetty and the end of the wedge, these waves create quite the spectacle. Next time you find yourself on the peninsula during a southern swell, you’ll have to make your way down to the “Wedge”, so you too can witness the excitement firsthand. Love to surf but not ready to tackle the 30 ft. waves of the wedge? Don’t worry, Newport Beach peninsula has a number of other locations where the waves are much calmer. Who’s knows maybe after a little practice, you’ll be ready to conquer the “Wedge”, during the next big swell.
Although Newport Beach has a number of amazing breakfast and brunch locations, nothing beats brunch on the peninsula. Although you may want to try and make your way down early, as the peninsula is a destination for many brunchers, there is no shortage of places to try.
